Privacy Policy — Ziro Taxi Driver

This Privacy Policy applies to the Ziro Taxi Driver app ("the app"), used by shared-taxi drivers on the Old Ziro–Hapoli route in Arunachal Pradesh, India, to broadcast availability and accept private hires. The app is operated by the Ziro Taxi team ("we", "us"). Passengers use a separate app with its own privacy policy.

Information we collect

• Phone number — used to sign you in with a one-time SMS code, to check that you are an approved driver on this route, and, during an active hire, shared with the passenger who booked you so you can call each other.
• Precise location (GPS), including in the background — see the section below. Used to show your vehicle's availability and to share your live position with the passenger during an accepted hire.
• Trip and status data — your current status (Waiting / Filling Up / Departed), seats filled, accepted bookings, fares, and trip history.
• Diagnostics — crash reports and error logs (Firebase Crashlytics) to help us fix problems.

Background location — what it is used for

When you accept a private hire, the app starts a foreground service (shown as a persistent notification) that sends your location approximately every 20 seconds. This lets the waiting passenger see your vehicle approaching on their map and how far away you are. The service runs in the background so that tracking keeps working when your screen is off or the app is not in front — which is normal while driving.

Location sharing stops automatically when any of the following happens:

• you arrive near the pickup point;
• the trip is completed or cancelled by either party;
• a maximum tracking time is reached.

Outside an active hire, the app does not track your location in the background.

How we use your information

We use this information solely to operate the taxi-matching service: signing you in and verifying you are an approved driver, showing your availability to passengers, delivering booking requests, sharing live location with your assigned passenger, applying the official fare rate card, and improving reliability. We do not sell your personal information and we do not use it for advertising.

How your information is stored and shared

Data is stored using Google Firebase (Authentication, Realtime Database, Cloud Functions, Cloud Messaging, Crashlytics) on Google servers. Your phone number and live location are shared with a passenger only for the duration of a hire you accepted. Your status and availability are visible to passengers using the app so they know whether a taxi is waiting. We do not share your data with advertisers or unrelated third parties.

Data retention and deletion

Live location data for a trip is deleted when the trip ends. We keep account and trip history only as long as needed to run the service. You can ask us to delete your account and its associated data at any time — see Delete your account and data for what is removed and how long it takes, or email solictic3@gmail.com with the phone number you registered.

Children

The app is intended for adult drivers operating on this route and is not directed to children.

Changes

We may update this policy; the "Last updated" date above will change accordingly.
